Waterbeach to Ely Linear Walk (12 miles / 19.5km - Moderate, Booking Required)
This walk is for up to 25 people, including the leader.
This is a linear walk starting from Waterbeach train station and finishing in Ely, where we can catch a train back to Waterbeach.
The flat route follows the Fen Rivers Way through classic fen countryside.
Leaving Waterbeach, we will pass farms, droves, lodes and washes as we follow the River Cam. We will stop at the Five Miles from Anywhere pub before passing through the Kingfishers Bridge nature reserve, which is working to restore the fen landscape to its natural wetland state.
We will then catch our first glimpse of the Ship of the Fens, Ely Cathedral, which overlooks our final destination, Ely waterfront. From here it is a short walk to Ely station for the train back to the start (single ticket £3.80).
Please bring a packed lunch for a picnic stop en route.
Please note that this walk is not suitable for dogs.
