Tewin, Datchworth and Bramfield Woods (8 miles / 13 km - Leisurely, Booking Required)
This walk is for up to 30 people, including the leader.
A tour of the rolling rural countryside and ancient woodland between Welwyn Garden City and Stevenage.
We start the walk by heading west along the River Mimram, turning northeast to follow a tributary valley all the way to Burnham Green village, over undulating farmland with views of Dawley Wood.
From here, we continue climbing up to Datchworth, the paths offering wide views over farmland to the west. We stop for our picnic lunch at the benches and tables on the village green, with an option to visit one of the two local pubs for a swift drink or to use the facilities.
Our return leg after lunch takes us down a long broad bridleway through more rolling farmland, then through several sections of the ancient and expansive woodlands known as Bramfield Woods. Upon our return to Tewin, those who wish for post walk refreshments are welcome to join us the Rose & Crown Pub.
Please note this walk is not suitable for dogs.
