Tearoom Trek: Digswell, Burnham Green and Tewin (6.5 miles/10.5 km - Leisurely, Booking Required)

This walk is for up to 20 people, including the leader.

A leisurely walk through woodland and farmland, with some moderate hills. This will include a visit to Honey Hill Tea Rooms in Tewin, where walkers can order hot drinks and/or cakes.

We will begin by heading towards Harmergreen Wood; you will get a good overhead view of the King's Cross to Peterborough railway line as we pass over the mouth of one of the tunnels. Look out for some ventilator shafts that serve the railway tunnels as we pass through this area.

After visiting Harmergreen Wood, on the edge of Oaklands, we will head towards the village green at Burnham Green, which has a trig point, and we will stop for a packed lunch break here.

We will then head towards Tewin, passing a spot where it may be possible to buy fresh eggs, and also we may see some horses in the adjacent paddocks. After we reach Tewin, we will stop for approximately an hour for a break at the tea room. After this stop, we will head towards the Welwyn Garden City Centenary Walk, set up in 2020 as a circular route around the town, as we pass open farmland on the return to Digswell.

After the walk, there will be an optional drink at The Cowper Arms, just a few minutes' walk from the station.

Dogs are welcome on a lead, but are not allowed in the back room at Honey Hill Tea Rooms.
