Taproom Trek: Crossover Blendery, Baldock & Weston (9 miles/14.5 km - Leisurely, Booking Required)
This walk is for up to 30 people, including the leader.
Our periodic taproom treks combine walking with a visit to a taproom, where we can try some beers or ciders. This one takes us to Crossover Blendery, located at Lannock Manor Farm, near Weston. This will be primarily on farmland, with some woodland walking, and a few moderate and steep ascents and descents.
Starting in Baldock, we will follow the back streets of town before leaving via the Icknield Way path, deviating onto the Hertfordshire Way, as we climb the hill towards Weston, allowing us a few chances to see views of the surrounding countryside. Reaching Weston, we will have an early lunch on the recreation ground before continuing on to the Blendery, where we will spend approximately an hour. The blendery was founded in 2018, by George and Charlie, and according to their website, is "focussed on producing complex beers which challenge and intrigue the drinker".
Upon leaving the Blendery, we will retrace our steps slightly, passing through Weston and past the village pond, before heading back towards Baldock, where we will go through Weston Hills Nature Reserve. We will then arrive back at Baldock, via the High Street, and return to the start point. Those who wish to can join us for drinks at the Old White Horse, 5 minutes walk away from the Twitchell, and conveniently near to the station.
Later on, some of us will head to Baldock Rugby Club, where we will have an optional Oktoberfest social, which will be advertised separately.
Dogs are welcome on a lead.
