Shuttleworth in Lights & Walk in the Dark (9.5 miles / 15km - Moderate, Booking Required)

This walk is for up to 15 people, including the leader.

In this combined walk and social we will leave from Biggleswade to visit the "Shuttleworth in Lights" event. Please make sure to book your tickets ASAP for 25th November at 6pm (please see the Meetup event for the booking link).

We will set off in the afternoon with a couple of hours of daylight ahead of us and walk along the Ivel river towards Jordans Mill.

Shortly after we will pass through the village of Broom on our way to Warden Warren Wood where we will see the old keepers cottage among tall pine trees. On top of a small hill stands the Queen Anne's Summerhouse, a satisfyingly foursquare folly likely to date from the early eighteenth century. From here we are also able to have a great view over the Shuttleworth manor and its estate.

We will then find our way down towards the quaint village of Old Warden where we can enjoy the warmth of the Hare and Hounds pub as darkness descends.

Nearer to 6pm and very likely wearing our headtorches we will head to Shuttleworth where we will visit Shuttleworth in Lights, where the Shuttleworth collection and Swiss Garden will be illuminated in a wonderful display of big, bold, colour, showcasing the wonderful natural features of our landscape and heritage.

Afterwards, we will make our way back aided by our headtorches via Broom lakes. It should be noted there will almost be a full moon so weather permitting it won't be completely dark anyway!

Dogs are welcome, on a lead.
