Icknield Way #8: Great Chesterford to Linton Circular (13.5 mi / 22km - Moderate, Booking Required)

This walk is for up to 20 people, including the leader.

Part 8 of our plan to complete the Icknield Way Path - 114 miles following “the oldest road in Britain”. Join us for any or all of these walks!

We will be walking this section of the trail as a circular walk, starting and finishing at the train station at Great Chesterford.

We will start by following the Icknield Way over the hill through farmland to the village of Linton. We will leave the Icknield Way there, stopping for lunch at the recreation ground in the village. We will then cross to the picturesque village of Hildersham before visiting the pub in Great Abington where walkers have the option to enjoy some mid-walk refreshments.

Finally, we will cross through the historic former Land Settlement Association estate (keeping our eyes peeled for the local emus), before heading back to Great Chesterford.

Please note, much of the walk is over open ground with no shade. We recommend bringing a hat, suncream and plenty of water.

This walk is not suitable for dogs.

Booking your place: If you would like to join, you must book in advance using the Stag Walkers Meetup group - see Notes for how to book & what to bring. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking so that someone else can take your place.

Please do not turn up for a walk without booking, as places are limited.

Unless you opt in to further communications, we will only use contact information you provide to get in touch about the walk.

Please car-share or use public transport if possible. To offer a lift or ask for one from a fellow walker, please use the Meetup event page.
