Hitchin to Ley Green (13 miles / 21 km - Moderate, Booking Required)
This is a joint walk with North London and South Herts Ramblers, hosted by them and led by Libby. 12 places are available for Stag Walkers to book.
Setting out from Hitchin town centre, this longer walk takes in rolling countryside with hills and woodland to the south and southwest of Hitchin, visiting several villages along the way.
The walk heads south from Hitchin, passing through Preston then reaching Kings Walden Park. This deer park is home to many old oak trees, including the Domesday Oak, believed to be a thousand years old.
The walk then proceeds to Ley Green, a hamlet with a pub where we will have our packed lunch stop, and where walkers may wish to buy some mid walk refreshments.
After lunch, we begin the return to Hitchin through more countryside and via the villages of Great Offley and Charlton.
This walk is not suitable for dogs.
Booking your place: If you would like to join, you must book in advance using the Stag Walkers Meetup group - see Notes for how to book & what to bring. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking so that someone else can take your place.
Please do not turn up for a walk without booking, as places are limited.
Unless you opt in to further communications, we will only use contact information you provide to get in touch about the walk.
Please car-share or use public transport if possible. To offer a lift or ask for one from a fellow walker, please use the Meetup event page.
