Crews Hill, the New River & Forty Hall (8.5 miles / 14km - Leisurely, Booking Required)

This walk is for up to 25 people, including the leader.

A varied walk exploring countryside and historic parkland on the green fringes of north London.

We initially ascend northwards into Hertfordshire along wide bridleways. We make our way towards the New River, built to carry fresh water from Hertfordshire to London. We will follow this channel southwards to Enfield where there will hopefully be the opportunity to visit the attractive Myddleton House Gardens (subject to the owners opening the gardens on the day).

We’ll continue onwards to the impressive Forty Hall, a 17th Century Manor House set in open parkland. We’ll stop for a packed lunch in the grounds.

In the afternoon, we will pass peaceful lakes, thought to be from an early water garden and set in attractive woodland. We’ll closely follow the London Loop walk through pleasant parkland as we return to the start point at Crews Hill station.

Dogs are welcome on a lead.
