Cambridge Green Spaces & Giraffe Sculptures (7.5 miles / 12km, Leisurely - Booking Required)
This walk is for up to 20 people, including the leader.
A leisurely walk through historic streets and green spaces in Cambridge, passing many decorated giraffe sculptures currently on display in the city.
Please note this is a linear walk between stations, starting at Cambridge North and finishing at Cambridge.
We begin by crossing the River Cam via the Abbey-Chesterton footbridge, then walk alongside the river through Stourbridge and Midsummer Commons. We’ll head into the city centre via New Square and Christ’s Pieces parks, loop around Great St Mary’s Church and stroll along various passages and lanes, stopping to admire the giraffe sculptures along the way.
Next, our route takes us to The Backs, where some of the historic University colleges back onto the river, through St John's College Playing Fields and past the impressive University Library. We’ll then head across Sheep’s Green and Coe Fen, a local nature reserve and traditional grazing ground, and along the streets to Parker’s Piece common before taking the back roads to Cambridge station and the end of our walk.
We’ll have a packed lunch stop en route and an optional pub visit afterwards.
The route is on pavement so please wear comfortable walking shoes or walking trainers.
Please note that this walk is not suitable for dogs.
