Arlesey Evening Walk (5 miles / 8km - Leisurely, Booking Required)

This walk is for up to 25 people, including the leader.

Join us for an evening walk through the countryside west of Arlesey.

This is a mainly flat route taking in arable fields, grazing commons, waterside and woodland.

After setting out from the large car park west of the station, we’ll head along wide tracks and cross-field paths towards Henlow Camp, then past Oldfield Farm. Across the open landscape we can spot the towers of the former Fairfield Hospital. Meeting the River Hiz, we’ll follow a section of the Hicca Way alongside the river to Arlesey Common, where we might see some friendly ponies.

We’ll then continue upstream and through Old Moat and Glebe Meadows nature reserve, an area of cattle-grazed grassland and developing woodland located between the river and the railway line.

Following the walk there is the chance of a drink at The Old Oak pub a short walk away on the other side of the station.

Dogs are welcome on a lead.
