Afternoon Intro Walk: Watton-at-Stone & Bramfield's Bluebells (5mi/8km - Leisurely, Booking Req)

This walk is for up to 30 people, including the leader.

We have two 5-mile hikes perfect for beginners - and it’s bluebell season! Take your pick from morning or afternoon and immerse yourself in nature, make new friends and unwind in a village pub afterwards. Or join us for both to make a day of it, ideal if you want to try a longer distance at a relaxed pace. Existing members are of course welcome too!

Both walks start and end in Watton-at-Stone, a village nestled in the rolling countryside of the River Beane Valley. We’ll meet at the Community Hall, where a public toilet is usually open. If driving, please do not park here - see notes below. We will be walking in classic ‘undulating’ Hertfordshire countryside, meaning there will be some slopes but nothing too challenging, and worth it for the nice views!

This afternoon walk will take us west of Watton, along well-trodden tracks towards Bramfield Woods. At this time of year we’ll hopefully be treated to a beautiful display of bluebells in full bloom soon after we enter the woodland. We’ll then explore other woods and head back to the village downhill, across open fields offering great views of the surrounding countryside.

Afterwards will be an optional visit to a village pub for post-walk refreshments!

Dogs are welcome on a lead.
