Contact Us — Meet The Committee

Al
Group Chair
Contact Al I’ve been Stag Walkers chair since 2021 and I enjoy working with the rest of the committee, suggesting new ideas and overseeing the group. I also lead walks regularly as I love to find new places to explore and to share my favourite routes with other people.

Aminah
General Secretary
Contact Aminah I joined the Ramblers 4 years ago after enjoying a few walks with Stag Walkers. I really enjoy seeing the hidden beauty of the countryside around us, and meeting and chatting to people on walks. I also love the active social calendar with such a variety of events to choose from. Currently I am the Group Secretary. As part of this role, I organise our committee meetings, and help with the administrative processes.

Sarah F
Membership Secretary
Contact Sarah F I joined Stag Walkers in 2022 and became Membership Secretary in late 2024. Being a member has reignited my passion for walking, especially after my two family dogs passed away. Getting outdoors never fails to have a positive impact on my mental and physical health. I feel content and safe whilst out with Stag Walkers and would encourage anyone to join us for a walk.

Gavin
Walk Programme Coordinator
Contact Gavin I joined Stag Walkers in 2019 as I enjoy walking in the countryside and exploring new places. My role is walks co-ordinator and involves making sure we have a full walks programme and publishing upcoming walks.

Alastair
Walk Programme Coordinator
Contact Alastair I joined Stag Walkers at the end of 2020 after moving back to Hertfordshire from London. I was regularly walking solo at that time to explore the countryside and to get fit. I was delighted to join such an active and welcoming local group to walk with others! I love being led through new areas, and sharing places and paths I know with the group. I've been leading walks for a few years now and have been involved with the committee helping to fill our walks program, support walk leaders and publish walks since late 2022.

Sarah M
Social Secretary
Contact Sarah M I joined Stag Walkers with my friend (another Sarah!) in January 2023, as a way to meet new people and discover new local walks around Hertfordshire. Walking gives me a sense of accomplishment and a chance to destress, in addition to improving my fitness. I have been on weekend away trips to some fabulous places in the UK, including the Lake District and York.

Oli
Publicity Officer
Contact Oli Why I joined Stag Walkers: I have a passion for walking, and wanted to find like-minded people to share this with, to develop friendships and create lasting memories.
Why I love Ramblers/Stag Walkers: The group is incredibly welcoming, and from my first walk with the group, I felt right at home. Members are very friendly and you can see the enthusiasm for what they enjoy. I've achieved my objectives already of making great friends and creating memories to last a life time and I do not want to stop anytime soon!
My role: In my volunteer role as Social Media and Publicity Officer, I am responsible for raising awareness of Stag Walkers and promoting the great work we do as a walking organisation to encourage engagement in our countryside.

Hannah
Newsletter Editor
Contact Hannah I enjoy being a rambler, since there are endless opportunities to explore unique scenic views and each route is very well thought out and structured, making everyone feel at ease... Thanks to the leaders! I love being in nature but being in a group has most certainly encouraged more outdoor activity and has challenged me physically in many ways. I'm the healthiest and fittest I've been since becoming a rambler! Without a doubt, joining Stag Walkers is one of the best decisions I've made!

Greg
Weekend Away Coordinator
Contact Greg After tackling the publicity and treasurer roles, I've taken on Weekend Away Coordinator, keen to use my experience of organising some of the group’s recent trips. I help shape our exciting programme of weekends away across the UK and beyond, encouraging potential leaders and supporting them whenever needed. If you have a great idea for where the Stags should explore next, get in touch!

Vignesh
Webmaster
Contact Vignesh I’ve been walking with Stag Walkers for over a year now, and it’s been an incredible experience. What started as walks with new faces soon turned into meaningful connections with familiar friends. I’ve enjoyed exploring nature, sharing conversations, and being part of several well-organised events that made every moment memorable. From day one, I felt welcomed and included in the group, which speaks volumes about the community spirit here. As the next step in my journey, I’ve volunteered with Ramblers and taken on the role of Webmaster for Stag Walkers. I’m excited to work alongside the brilliant committee members and contribute by doing what I do best.

Simon
Area Representative
Contact Simon I have been a member of the Ramblers for about 10 years. I moved to Bedfordshire earlier this year from Surrey. I had a friend who recommended Stag Walkers to me, so when I moved I joined the group straight away! I have made some really good friends through the Ramblers and hope to make some new ones in Stag Walkers. Everyone I have met in the group is lovely and welcoming and I already feel I have been in the group for a long time now. I put my hat in the ring to volunteer and be part of the committee and have been given the role as Area Representative to provide the link between Stag Walkers and Hertfordshire & North Middlesex Ramblers Area Council.

Matt
Treasurer
Contact Matt I’ve been a member of Stag Walkers since 2023, and it’s been a fantastic experience throughout! This is such a warm and friendly group, and going on walks with the Stags is one of the best ways you can experience the beauty of Hertfordshire (and beyond!) in all seasons and weathers! I’m delighted to be part of the committee as Treasurer, which gives me the opportunity to use my professional experience to help the group continue to prosper.
